What's this?
7 Wonders: Dice is a roll & build reinvention of the famous 7 Wonders. Here, there are no cards to draft: everything revolves around rolling dice, progressively building your city, and racing to collect symbols.
How do you play?
A game takes place over several rounds during which:
One Player roll the dice.
The roll determines the available resources, scientific, military, or civic symbols. You choose how to use the results.
As in 7 Wonders, you must decide between production, development, improving your wonder, or optimizing symbols.
The results can:unlock new neighborhoods,
to strengthen its military power,
contribute to scientific combinations,
to offer immediate points,
or to sustainably improve its dice (stronger faces, fixed resources…).
End of game and scoring.
The final scoring uses the following key categories:science,
military,
resources/economy,
civic,
progression of the marvel.
Is it good?
7 Wonders Dice succeeds in its mission: to transpose the essence of the famous franchise into a Roll & Write (or rather Roll/Shake & Write) format accessible to the whole family . Like its predecessor, the game is played simultaneously , allowing up to 7 players to enjoy the game without any significant downtime – a true feat.
The spirit of the franchise is definitely present: the race for scientific advancement (via special dice), military confrontation (the conflict track), and the dilemma of resource management to build your Wonder are all there. The seven different city boards , along with the special dice, offer good replayability and add some fresh strategic possibilities.
However, it’s important to note that 7 Wonders Dice doesn’t reinvent the Roll & Write genre . Its core mechanic, which involves checking off boxes to unlock other boxes or bonuses, is a classic system that has already been extensively explored. While this simplicity ensures accessibility, strategists won’t find the tactical depth and agonizing dilemmas that made its predecessors ( 7 Wonders and 7 Wonders Duel ) so renowned.
