Prepare for an epic underground adventure. Rolling Deep is a roguelike dice-building game heavily inspired by the success of Balatro. Scheduled for release in 2027, this title launches the “Table for One” series from publisher Bitewing Games, a line dedicated exclusively to solo players.
The Concept: A Journey to the Center of the Earth
You lead a trio of daring adventurers—whose heads are literally dice—descending into the heart of a volcano in search of glory, treasure, and secrets. The game consists of 5 chapters. At the end of each chapter, you must face a formidable Boss that alters the rules of the game for that specific round.
Mechanics: Roll, Upgrade, Repeat
The gameplay relies on careful risk management (“push your luck”) and lancers optimization:
-
Dice Rolls: Each round, you roll dice representing your team’s actions.
-
Progression: By scoring a roll, you advance toward a target score needed to overcome the current stage of the journey.
-
The Shop: Between rounds, you visit a shop to spend your coins. You can purchase reroll potions or permanent upgrades that modify the faces of your dice (changing values, generating coins, etc.).
-
Key Resources: Time determines your scoring opportunities, while Reroll Potions allow you to take a chance and reroll individual dice before committing to a result.
Why You’ll Be Hooked
With its “vintage cartoon” art style by Alexandra Preda and Caitlin Russell, Rolling Deep features a massive amount of content. The game offers hundreds of cards to unlock via achievements, providing a multitude of combos and challenges to tackle during every expedition.
