Hall Games and Pegasus Spiele are set to publish Medico, the new game from Stefan Feld, in autumn 2026. And the theme, for once, is a departure from trading cities and Italian republics: we’re heading to medieval Europe, where trained physicians were a rare commodity.
Barber, Healer, and Future Medicus?
In this 2–4 player game, each participant takes on the role of a traveling barber journeying through towns and villages to heal, learn, and build a reputation. The goal: accumulate enough knowledge and prestige to earn the coveted title of Medicus.
Each round begins with the simultaneous, secret selection of one of 7 locations to travel to. On your turn, you reveal your destination to perform a main action there. Along the way, you can also take secondary actions at waypoints you pass through… provided you’ve planned your route carefully in advance.
This is classic Feld design: tight time and resource management where every action matters. With only 8 or 9 rounds available depending on player count, every decision is critical. At final scoring, players tally points across multiple categories: recipe books, medical instruments, apprentices, and more.
A Feld Is a Feld
Stefan Feld, designer of The Castles of Burgundy, Trajan, and Notre Dame, reaffirms with Medico his commitment to historically-themed strategy games driven by tight mechanics and constant tension between available options.
Artwork is handled by Dennis Lohausen, a longtime collaborator on many of the publisher’s titles, ensuring polished visual design throughout.
Medico is shaping up to be one of the must-watch titles at Essen 2026. Sharpen your lancets!
