What's this?
Clank is a captivating Deckbuilding game where you will skillfully move your pawn on the main board using your cards.
Your mission is to explore the mysterious caves located beneath the Dragon Keep, in search of the most prized treasures. However, you will need to exercise the greatest caution so as not to emit unwanted noises (in the form of Clank!) which could wake the formidable dragon before you have managed to return to the surface.
Be strategic, avoid pitfalls and complete your epic quest while keeping a close eye on Clank’s level to ensure your survival in this thrilling adventure.
How do you play?
On your turn, the process is very simple: you draw 5 cards and play them. The cards are mainly divided into three categories:
Cards equipped with the “skill” resource which will allow you to acquire other cards and thus build a deck adapted to your strategy.
Cards equipped with the “boot” resource which will offer you the possibility of moving through the caves, thus collecting treasures and bonuses hidden on the main board.
Cards equipped with the “sword” resource because, in Clank, you will have to face enemies whose defeat mainly rewards coins.
Your challenge will be to play your cards wisely to progress ever deeper into the caves, in the hope of reaching the most prized treasures, while avoiding making too much noise (called Clank!) symbolized by cubes of your color . These cubes will be placed in a bag, and if you draw too many of your color when the Dragon wakes up, it will mean Game Over for you.
There will of course be several paths to take, bonuses to grab, and if you go up first, the other players will feel the pressure build as time runs out for them to reach the surface. Be clever and quick to complete your epic quest in this thrilling game.
Is it good?
In my eyes, Clank is the ideal game to introduce new players to board games. It has firmly established itself as a must-have to experience at least once. The combination of deckbuilding mechanics with movement on the main board is simple, fluid and enjoyable. We will carefully monitor the actions of our adversaries, because finding the right timing becomes crucial to seize the most precious treasures before them, while ensuring that we have time to return to the surface safely before the end Of the game.
