Cookie Party: a crispy bingo to share

What's this?

Cookie Party is a family board game published by Ravensburger, which combines Roll & Write and bingo.

How do you play?

Each player receives an erasable game board, 11 numbered tokens, and a marker. Together, they choose whether to play on the blue side (more classic) or the yellow side (more varied). The principle is the same:

  1. Roll the dice – One player rolls both dice and announces the sum (between 2 and 12). All players use this result. The corresponding token is then located on the board: the number of lines drawn on this token indicates how many lines can be drawn around the square.

    • Example: with a 6 (frequent result), we draw 1 line; with an 11 (rare), we draw 3 lines.

    • If some traits cannot be placed, a “drink” marker is checked. After 3 checkmarks, a bonus trait is earned to place wherever you want.

  2. Surrounding squares – As soon as a square is completely surrounded by 4 lines, it is checked. If it contained a token, it is moved to another free square on the board.

  3. Move a token (optional) – Each turn, you can move a numbered token to an empty space to reorganize your board.

  4. Validate objectives – Some challenges appear on the common Objectives board:

    • Check all 3 cookies of a given type

    • Check 6 cookies on a red background

    • Check a complete column or row (blue side only)

    • On the yellow side, the objectives change slightly with other types of cakes.

The first player to achieve an objective earns 6 points , the second 4 points , and then the following players 3 points . A token is then placed on the Objectives board to record this achievement.

  5. End of game – The game continues until a player reaches the required number of points (depending on the number of players). The player with the most points is declared the winner.

Is it good?

Cookie Party is an accessible and simple game, which mixes Roll & Write with a mechanic close to bingo.

The game offers small tactical choices around token placement, and the race for objectives gives it a more strategic dimension than it appears.

It remains fluid and dynamic thanks to the fact that everyone plays at the same time, which makes it easy to chain games.

However, one could criticize it for a part of chance linked to the dice, sometimes frustrating, as well as a lack of readability: the board is quite busy and the numerous lines drawn make reading less clear.

In short, Cookie Party is a fast-paced, family-friendly Roll & Write game that combines the simplicity of dice randomness with a touch of light strategy, thanks to the management of token placement and movement.
