The Hunt: A Deep Dive into the Nazi Hunt

What's this?

“The Hunt” is a board game that takes you to Europe in 1945, in the aftermath of the fall of the Third Reich. Players take on the roles of different factions (the United States, the Soviet Union, the Tzaar—a fictional Israeli organization—or the Network—a criminal syndicate) in a race to capture fugitive former Nazis and collaborators

How do you play?

A game of “The Hunt” takes place over several rounds, each divided into two phases.

Action Phase: In turn, players perform 1 to 3 actions from the 8 available.

1. Move an Agent pawn

This action allows you to position your agents on the board to conduct the investigation or track down fugitives.

  • Moving an Agent to Investigation: You place one of your available Agent tokens on an empty space in one of the 5 Investigation zones (Rumors, Records/Press/Archives, Funding). Each zone offers different types of Clue cards. For example, the “Rumors” zone allows you to draw Rumor cards, while the “Records/Press/Archives” zones allow you to draw Clue cards of different types.
  • Moving a Hunted Agent: You place an Agent pawn under the Hunt zone (America, Europe, Middle East) where you wish to hunt a Fugitive.

2. Inform an Agent

This action provides your agents in the field with the information needed to capture a Fugitive.

  • You take a Clue card from your hand and place it face down under one of your Agent tokens in a Hunt area. You can also place a previously captured Fugitive if it has a Hunt ability. Clue cards placed under the Agent can be used to capture any Fugitive in that area.

3. Capture a Fugitive/Resolve a Hunt

If one of your Agents on the Hunt has the necessary clues to capture a Fugitive in their area, you can perform this action.

  • You reveal the cards hidden under your Agent pawn to prove that you have the required clues.
  • You gain Influence points in the track corresponding to the Fugitive’s category (military, scientific, political or collaborationist).
  • You place the Captured Fugitive card face down in your Reserve.
  • The Agent pawn that carried out the Hunt is placed in the Rest zone.

Maintenance Phase: This phase prepares for the next round: players collect their cards, recall their agents, resupply the hunt areas with new fugitives and objectives, and pass the First Player token.

The game of “The Hunt” ends when a player reaches or exceeds 12 World Domination points on the corresponding track.
