TOWERS OF SIFNOS: The New Strategic Fortress from the Phillips & Macdonald Duo

Building to Resist in Ancient Greece

After completing their acclaimed trilogies ( North Sea , West Kingdom and South Tiger ), the design duo Shem Phillips and SJ Macdonald announce their next big expert game: Towers of Sifnos .

The game transports us to the Greek island of Sifnos, famous in antiquity for its gold, silver, and lead mines. Following invasions, the inhabitants erected an impressive network of over seventy watchtowers. In Towers of Sifnos , you play as a Greek warlord tasked with preparing your people against pirate raids.

Gameplay Focused on Defense and Control

This new title departs slightly from pure worker placement games to venture into the realm of Area Control and Defense .

The players will have to:

  • Build towers (beacons) to ensure communication and protection.

  • Training soldiers to defend the areas.

  • Investing in the future of the island.

The core of the game lies in defending the three main mines (Gold, Silver, Lead). Victory points are earned primarily by increasing your influence over the production of these minerals and by proving your strength during successive pirate invasions . The game promises constant tension, as after each successful invasion, the threat increases or allied reinforcements arrive.

Towers of Sifnos is shaping up to be a tense Eurogame, rich in interactions (indirect via majority control and zone battles), and which will continue to explore the richness of precise historical themes, a signature of Garphill Games.
