A Return to Viking Roots
After exploring lighter themes and space puzzles in recent years, Rosenberg returns to its first love: the “heavyweight” worker placement game. The Danes presents itself as a spiritual successor or companion title to A Feast for Odin, set in the same medieval world.
Key points to remember:
-
Significant complexity: With a Weight Rating of 4.00/5, this is clearly an expert-level game.
-
Epic playtime: Expect a game to last between 90 and 180 minutes.
-
Player requirements: Playable with 1 to 4 players, with a solo mode that already looks promising.
Gameplay: Between Exploration and Settlement Management
Outer Expansion: Exploration and trade with new territories to generate wealth.

-
Domestic Life: A very “Rosenbergian” focus on animal husbandry, resource gathering, and hunting.
A dream team
For this project, Uwe Rosenberg isn’t going it alone. He’s teaming up with Gernot Köpke, while illustrator Dennis Lohausen (who previously worked on Terra Mystica and Project Gaia) is handling the art direction. The game will be published by Feuerland Spiele, a guarantee of quality for fans of sophisticated management games.
