Everdell: Silverfrost — Tycoon Games announces a standalone winter game

Tycoon Games (via Tabletop Tycoon) continues to expand the Everdell universe with a very promising new addition: Everdell: Silverfrost, a standalone game that is both strategic and thematic, set in a snowy landscape.

What the announcement reveals

Silverfrost is part of the “Edge of the Map” series within the Everdell world: it takes place beyond the Spirecrest mountains, in a cold region south of the valley.

There are two versions available: the Collector’s Edition (with premium components) and the Essential Edition (more affordable, with cardboard components).

The game introduces new mechanics compared to classic Everdell:

  • Snow covers cards and locations: you’ll need to spend Fire to clear it, adding tactical pressure.

  • One of your workers is designated as a Ranger, with unique abilities—such as visiting already-occupied locations or earning Fire.

  • Instead of Events, the game introduces Quests:

    • Highland Quests are visible to all players and provide significant rewards.

    • Lowland Quests are personal, unique to each player.

  • A Beacon mechanism allows players to spend Fire to light beacons and call upon Big Critters, powerful creatures that provide support.

  • Chimneys allow you to play Critters more freely, as long as you have enough Fire.

Visually, Silverfrost includes a 3D mountain board in certain editions, enhancing the winter immersion.

The game is designed by James & Clarissa A. Wilson, with artwork by Lukas Siegmon.

A solo mode is included, designed by Chrissy & Tom Peske.

The release date announced by some retailers (such as World of Games) is November 2025.

For the French edition, publisher Matagot is planning a release around March 2026.

Why Silverfrost could be a major asset

  • Strategic renewal: the introduction of snow and fire forces players to plan differently than in classic Everdell.

  • Strong winter theme: you truly feel the cold, the struggle against nature, and the importance of keeping your city warm.

  • Replayability: the quests (Highland vs. Lowland) and the beacon-summoned Big Critters offer varied strategies.

  • Attractive components: the Collector’s Edition appears very rich, ideal for players who love premium material.

Key points for Everdell fans

  • If you’re already an Everdell fan: Silverfrost offers a different experience (more “fight against the elements”) while keeping the core identity of the original game.

  • If you’re new to Everdell: Silverfrost is a great entry point, as it is a standalone game (you don’t need to own the base game).

  • For solo players: the solo mode looks well designed, with the new mechanics of fire, snow, and beacons.

Conclusion: Everdell: Silverfrost is an exciting announcement from Tycoon Games, bringing a winter atmosphere, innovative mechanics, and refreshed strategy. For existing Everdell fans, it’s a new gateway into the universe. For newcomers, it’s an appealing standalone adventure.
