Review World Wonders

What's this?

“World Wonders” is a board game that combines elements of resource management, tile placement and historical wonder construction.

How do you play?

On your turn, you must use your action to buy one of the following: Large road, small road, building, tower, 1st or 2nd player pedestal or a monument which will cost all the gold you have left.

The elements and tiles must be placed respecting certain connection and placement rules.

When you purchase a building or monument, you must increase the production of your city by advancing the Resource tokens indicated on the purchased tile or card.

Once a player has spent all their gold, they automatically pass. Once all players have passed, the current round ends and a new round begins.

The game ends in the round where a player reaches the last space of their Population track; failing this, it ends at the end of 10 rounds of play.

Is it good?

“World Wonders” is a board game that combines elements of resource management, tile placement and historical wonder construction.

World of Wonders stands out as a very enjoyable family game, without revolutionizing the genre of tile-laying games. Its resource management system is particularly well designed, leading to an interesting dilemma between optimizing its resources or seizing the coveted Wonder. Timing becomes crucial in this game.

Visually, the game shines, with its 3D wonders which proudly sit on our platforms. A real aesthetic asset which reinforces the immersion in the ancient theme. The value for money is also excellent, with the box packed with quality material.

Variety of victory points (buildings, wonders, resources, etc.) ensures appreciable replayability, even if the repetitive aspect can appear after several games.

In summary, World of Wonders is an easy recommendation for tile-laying game enthusiasts looking for an entertaining family experience.
