Review Skymines

What's this?

The goal of the game is to earn as many cryptocoins as possible in seven rounds, obtained by investing in mining companies, carrying out scientific research and collecting valuable Helium-3.

How do you play?

Each round consists of three phases: the planning phase where players place cards face down in their action slots, the actions phase where they reveal their cards to take turns performing an action in clockwise order, and the maintenance phase.

Possible actions include using Resource cards to acquire new cards or advance on company tracks, using all Energy cards to expand a company to the moon, using a Researcher card to advance his Transmission pawn on the research track by checking the prerequisites of the Transmission tokens, the use of an Engineer card to advance his Helium-3 pawn on his storage track for cryptocoins and victory points at the end of the game, as well as as the passage to exit the actions phase.

The game ends after the seventh round, where players count their cryptocoins, add the value of their company shares and their Helium-3, and the player with the highest total wins the game.

Is it good?

Mombasa was already a favorite in its time, with Skymines its reissue the game has not aged, on the contrary! Skymine is a gem of an expert game.

Its hand and card management mechanics are so well thought out, this reflection of discarded and recovered cards is a gratifying intellectual gymnastics!

Interaction you will have on the central plateau with the majority of the different companies and with the colonization of the moon.

There will be a huge number of strategic choices with the track of researchers, engineers and different company tracks.

This game is pure joy, playful, elegant, well thought out and neuro-breaking as it should be. It’s an essential for your game library.
