Review Sky Team

What's this?

You play as a duo of pilots tasked with landing a plane in different cities around the world. The goal is to work together effectively to manage the speed, altitude, balance of the aircraft, and of course, its landing.

How do you play?

Each game is played in 7 rounds. Each round consists of three phases:

Strategy discussion and dice roll: You can discuss strategy without directly discussing the results of the dice. After the dice roll, no communication is allowed.
Dice placement: Each player places their dice in the areas of the dashboard according to color and value constraints.
End of round: The plane descends 1,000 feet at the end of each round, and the dice are collected for the next round.

Actions:

Flaps and landing gear: These elements must be deployed gradually to ensure a smooth landing.

Brakes: They are activated towards the end of the game and are essential to slow the plane down during landing. The speed of the plane must be lower than the position of the brake marker to avoid a crash.

Thrusters: The dice placed in this section determine the speed of the plane. Mismanagement can result in overrunning the runway or colliding with another plane.

To win, players must:

Reach the runway with all flaps and landing gear deployed.

Keep the plane level with a speed lower than the brakes when landing.

Is it good?

Discovered a little late, Sky Team has reserved a very nice surprise for me in the field of cooperative games. Its original theme, perfectly integrated into the gameplay thanks to the distinction between pilot and co-pilot, brings a welcome freshness.

The immersion is immediate, the rules are accessible and the learning curve is progressive, thanks to the variety of scenarios and additional modules. An additional strong point: the absence of “alpha player”, a frequent phenomenon in cooperative games. Each player has an essential and complementary role.

I highly recommend Sky Team to fans of cooperative games, especially two-player players. It is a unique gaming experience
