The goal of the game is to become the most renowned naturalist by collecting animal specimens, mapping and writing up scientific discoveries.
How do you play?
The goal of the game is to become the most renowned naturalist by collecting animal specimens, mapping and writing up scientific discoveries.
On your turn, in the row/column where the Beagle boat is located, you can select an animal or character tile that you will place on your personal board. These tiles will earn you different things: victory points, compasses which will be multiplied at the end of the game by your scroll icons, assistants, etc.
These assistants allow you to modify the position of the Beagle at the start of the turn or even to reset the tiles facing it.
You can also collect theory or objective tiles by covering animals of the same species/continent on your personal board.
At the end of your turn, you will move the Beagle one or three squares depending on the location of the tile you took.
The game ends when players have placed 12 tiles on their personal board.
Is it good?
In Darwin’s Footsteps is an excellent family game. The game is super fun to play with its quality material and its fast and intuitive gameplay.
Whether you are an expert player or a new player, you will have fun thanks to the many ways to score. Do you go for the strategy of scrolls and compasses, do you try to make lines and columns at all costs to get books or do you cover your tiles to recover new objectives. Choices that are renewed with each game.
The game goes to the essentials and it is a pleasure to play by chaining quick games.
It’s all good for me, a big favorite for its family category.
