In the Gaia Project game, players embody different factions, each with asymmetrical abilities and powers. The goal of the game is to accumulate as many victory points as possible over the course of 6 rounds, primarily by constructing various buildings, developing multiple technologies, colonizing planets and forming alliances.
Players must also manage their resources such as credits, ores, and knowledge to best exploit their faction’s strengths and strategies.
The key feature of the game (inherited from Terra Mystica) lies in the bowls containing the power tokens, which will be rotated during the game and which will be used to perform different actions.
Is it good?
Project Gaia is one of the best games I’ve had the opportunity to try; It’s in my top 3! It is a deep, complex and strategic game where chance plays no role.
It offers an incredible variety of strategies and choices thanks to its different factions, its technological tracks and the variable end-of-round counts, which guarantees completely crazy replayability!
Players must calculate each action: when to develop technologies, which ones to prioritize, when to expand on the map before their opponents, take into account their opponents’ actions to gain influence, and know when to improve their buildings to obtain the necessary resources at the right time. You can play dozens of games without ever seeing two identical ones.
This game is a gem of strategy and optimization.
For all players who enjoy demanding games offering multiple choices, I can only recommend Project Gaia.
