Welcome to Farshore. Each season, you will lead a team of workers to build a thriving city and explore the enchanted oceans. Plan your actions carefully to build, sail, and triumph over the winds of change.

How do you play?

Your turn:

➡️ Place a worker

Place a worker on an empty space to gather resources or perform an action. Spaces include:

The shore: Provides basic resources.

The islands: Provide bonuses and resources.

The harbor and observatory: Trade or draw cards.

➡️ Play a card

Spend the resources needed to play a card from your hand or the bay.

➡️ Prepare for the season

Collect your workers, gain seasonal bonuses, and prepare the board:

Spring: Activate your Production cards.

Summer: Draw two cards.

Autumn: Activate Production and prepare for the end of the game.

➡️ End of the game

When all players have completed their actions in autumn

➡️ New compared to Everdell:

The movement of ships is a major new feature. They advance by playing cards corresponding to the Compass Rose tokens or thanks to the effects of certain cards. The final position of the ships earns points at the end of the game.

Treasure tokens:

Treasures can replace any resource when spent.

They are also worth 2 points each if they are not used at the end of the game.

Map tiles:

Everdell Events are replaced by Map tiles. These tiles can multiply the points between them to obtain high scores.

Anchor tokens:

The 3 Anchor tokens replace the Everdell occupation markers.

Is it good?

Farshore retains the core gameplay of Everdell, offering a familiar experience to fans of the series. However, the expansion brings some interesting new features that enrich the overall strategy.

The new pink token system introduces an additional time dimension. Players must now anticipate the right moment to play their cards and advance their ship, adding a layer of strategic thinking.

In addition, events are replaced by a more readable and direct card icon system. This simplification allows you to focus on the essentials and avoid the sometimes illegible complexities of previous events.

Finally, the introduction of anchors revolutionizes the way to acquire creatures. Indeed, no need to wait to find the right resident in a building: anchors allow you to recruit any creature, thus offering greater flexibility in building your deck.

For the rest, Farshore remains faithful to the spirit of Everdell: a game of worker placement, resource management and card board construction, offering strategic depth and replayability. The combinations are numerous.

If you already like Everdell, Farshore will bring you a breath of fresh air thanks to its new theme and slightly revised mechanics. On the other hand, if the base game did not convince you, this stand-alone will probably not change your mind

Everdell: Farshore retains the core gameplay of the series while introducing mechanics like Compass Rose tokens, anchors, and a simplified event system, providing a refreshing experience for fans. However, despite these adjustments, it remains true to the original spirit, and those who didn't enjoy the base game may not be enticed.

  • There is less satisfaction in finding the right creature for the right building.
