Review Bunny Kingdom

What's this?

Players must explore and colonize a New World on behalf of King Rabbit, building Cities and exploiting Resources. The goal is to accumulate Golden Carrots by developing Fiefdoms (a group of connected territories) and completing secret scrolls.

How do you play?

How a Round Plays
The game is played over 4 rounds, and each round is divided into three phases:

➡️ Exploration Phase: Players select two cards from their hand, then reveal them to develop their Fiefdoms, place Cities or Constructions, or keep Scrolls for bonus points at the end of the game.

➡️ Construction Phase: Players place their Constructions (Cities, Farms, Air Relays, Camps) on the territories they control.

➡️ Collection Phase: Players collect Golden Carrots based on the Power (number of Towers in the Cities) and Wealth (number of different resources produced) of their Fiefdoms.

Types of Cards and Constructions
Territory Cards: They allow you to take control of the territories on the board.
Construction Cards: These add elements like Cities and Farms to improve the Fiefdoms.
Parchment Cards: These are secret missions that bring Golden Carrots at the end of the game.
Air Relays and Camps: They allow you to connect distant Fiefdoms or take virgin territories.

➡️ Calculating Points
The score is based on the Power multiplied by the Wealth of a Fiefdom.

Power: Total Towers in the Cities (1 to 3 Towers per City).
Wealth: Number of different resources produced (wood, fish, carrots, etc.).

At the end of the game, players reveal their Parchment cards and earn bonus points for the missions completed. The player with the most Golden Carrots becomes the winner.

Is it good?

Bunny Kingdom is a game that combines both card drafting mechanics and territory placement. Classified in the initiation/family category, it offers surprising strategic depth while remaining accessible to a wide audience.

The wide variety of available cards ensures great replayability. Each round, players are faced with tricky choices: which cards to keep for themselves, which to offer to their opponents? This drafting mechanic creates palpable tension and encourages varied strategies.

The rabbit theme, while enjoyable, is more superficial than the game mechanics. However, the quality material and charming illustrations contribute to the immersion.

The games are rarely identical, with each player developing a unique strategy to build their kingdom. While counting points at the end of the round may seem tedious at first, it quickly becomes smoother with experience.

In summary, Bunny Kingdom is an excellent choice for board game lovers. It seduces with its effective combination of drafting and placement, the quality of its components and its replayability. An ideal game to spend a pleasant time with family or friends.
