Final Girl: Dive into a solo horror film

What's this?

Final Girl is a solo board game inspired by classic horror movies. You play as a Survivor trying to survive and defeat a relentless Killer in a hostile environment. The game is distinguished by its modularity: each Feature Film box introduces a specific Killer and Location, allowing for great replayability and customization of scenarios.

How do you play?

➡️ Setup: Choose a Killer and a Location from the available Feature Films. Select a Survivor and place the different game elements on the board. Shuffle the cards and prepare the tokens according to the specific instructions of the chosen scenario.

➡️ How a turn unfolds:

Action Phase: Use your cards to move, search, attack or rest. Actions are often resolved by dice rolls influenced by the Horror level.

Organization Phase: Buy new cards to improve your strategic options.

Killer Phase: The Killer acts according to his cards and abilities, attacking the victims or the Survivor.

Panic Phase: Victims still alive can flee and move unpredictably.

Maintenance Phase: Reorganize cards, activate end-of-turn effects and prepare for the next turn.

➡️ Game Objective:
The game ends when the Killer or Survivor dies. To win, you must eliminate the Killer before he kills you.

Is it good?

Final Girl seduces with its immersion in the world of classic horror films, where each game feels like living a real story worthy of the films of the 80s, 90s and 2000s.

Its great replayability, enabled by the diversity of scenarios and configurations, makes it a game that is always renewed and playable in the long term. But beware of the total cost, which can quickly climb if you want to acquire all the scenario boxes.

Its tense and strategic gameplay pushes players to skillfully manage their resources, their hand of cards, their movements and their actions, while anticipating those of the killer, thus adding an appreciable tactical depth.

In addition, the neat artistic direction reinforces the experience and the material with its storage in boxes and with magnetic trays is really well thought out.

However, it won’t be for everyone: it’s an exclusively solo game, and although strategic, the game is very punitive and it remains subject to a significant element of chance related to dice rolls and card drawing, which can sometimes frustrate players looking for total control over their game.

Final Girl is an excellent game for fans of survival horror and solo strategic challenges. Its immersive atmosphere and well-thought-out mechanics make it a unique experience that I recommend to fans of solo games.
