Review Mysterium

What's this?

Mysterium is a cooperative game where you have to appease the soul of a ghost by solving the mystery of his death in one night (7 rounds of play).

How do you play?

Roles:

➡️ One player embodies the ghost, unable to speak, communicates through visions (illustrated cards).

➡️ The other players are mediums, each must solve a personal mission: identify a suspect, a place, and an object.

Phase 1: Reconstruction of events

Game rounds:

The ghost gives visions (cards) related to a suspect, a place, or an object.

The mediums discuss and place their intuition token on a card, trying to guess correctly.

The ghost indicates whether the chosen card is correct. If so, the medium progresses; otherwise, he remains at the same level for the next round.

Phase 2: Revealing the culprit

The mediums use the information collected to identify the crime scenario: culprit, place, and object.

The ghost gives a final common vision composed of three cards.

The mediums vote to designate the correct scenario. Success depends on their progress on the clairvoyance track.

In conclusion, Mysterium is a cooperative game where communication and interpretation are key to solving the mystery before dawn.

Is it good?

Mysterium is a mix of Cluedo and Dixit in cooperation.

With beautifully illustrated cards and a dreamlike atmosphere, it is an excellent game for those who like to mix mystery, deduction and imagination.

The originality of the concept where the ghost communicates only through enigmatic cards is well thought out. This role can be demanding if the clues are sometimes too abstract for some players.

Despite a replayability that may seem limited after exploring all the cards, each game offers a unique experience, especially in a group. If you are looking for an immersive and cooperative game to liven up your evenings, I highly recommend it.
